Ramiro

During our stay in Porto (Portugal) in spring of 2016 we acquainted with a special Portuguese man, Ramiro Salgado. While we were shopping we arrived in a small but cozy cheese adjoining Port shop (Saboriccia) . Ramiro, the owner, was very enthusiastic and took us straight on. He was so excited that we recorded very quickly and were considered friends. During the weekend we often visited him and we had many dinners together in the city of Porto. As promised I made a portrait of him and his girlfriend. This month (February 2017) we are flying to Porto to deliver the painting to him in person.

101 Memories to Eurlings Interiors

They started their business building carriages and making furniture. At this moment they also do carpeting, window decorations, blinds and sell furniture. That is, in a nutshell, the 101-year history of the family business Eurlings Interiors in Voerendaal. Dozens of urban explorers, artists and creators were inspired by the past. The old carpentry served as the backdrop for photography, installation and paintings.
Also, I was asked to give my views on the nostalgic joinery of this old carpentry. That is why I made two paintings that are currently featured in the mini-museum in the showroom Eurlings Interiors.
1. Rusty butterfly nut
2. Weathered door

Portrait paintings

Lately, I've been busy portrait paintings. As an example of my ability, to show the viewer, I painted Einstein. Large 60 x 60 cm. See attached photo.

I then created a painting for an acquaintance. A painting of his father who died last year at the age of 54 years. As a reminder this work was given to his mother. (60 x 60)

I then my painted my colleague Huub Strolenberg with one of his biggest catches (40 x 70).

The Miner “Koelpiet”

For Christmas I received an assignment from a colleague of my wife. The reason was to have a painting made of her husbands’ father. Because there were few pictures made of him in the past they managed to get one small photo of him. On this particular picture he stands in his working outfit as a miner underground.

A small collage of progress and result.
